Shaina Langley for Everett School Board
Everett’s future begins in our public schools
Hi, I’m Shaina Langley, elementary school teacher, union leader, and public education advocate.
I’m running for Everett School Board Director, Position 1, because I am passionate about public education and bring a lived experience that reflects many of our Everett families. I know firsthand what it means to grow up needing stability, the life-changing power of supportive adults, and how access to opportunity can shape a child’s future.
"Shaina Langley brings the exact leadership we need on local school boards—student-centered, equity-driven, and deeply rooted in both classroom experience and community connection. With over a decade as a public school educator and a tireless advocate for working families, Shaina understands the challenges and opportunities facing our education system."

My Values
-
Here are the priorities we need to implement:
· Move students out of temporary portables and into fully equipped classrooms to ensure violence prevention and gun safety
· Improve hiring and training for on-campus resource officers, tutors and counselors who help students dealing with mental health issues
· Strengthen data privacy, especially with use of AI and digital tools
-
Here are the priorities we need to implement:
· Reduce reliance on standardized testing in favor of holistic, culturally responsive assessments
· Expand access to career and technical education, STEM, the arts, athletics and curriculum for multilingual learners, students with disabilities and LGBTQ+ students
· Create community-connected learning opportunities and partnerships to help students navigate the world beyond the classroom
-
Here are the priorities we need to implement:
· Champion budgeting that invests in student-centered curriculum and fund professional development training and resources for teachers and staff
· Close gaps in provision of materials, supplies and operating costs and direct resources to high needs schools that deliver lasting outcomes
· Promote community & and family engagement by expanding before- and after-school programs to support working families

Experience in Education, Not Just Administration
For over a decade, I’ve worked as an elementary teacher in public schools across Washington. I started my career teaching kindergarten through fourth grade in Title I schools and now work in the Gifted and Talented program in the Lake Washington School District. Throughout my career, my work has been rooted in the belief that every student deserves to be safe, supported, and challenged to grow into their full potential.
My passion for education centers around my students, supports for staff, and and working families, and has inspired me to advocate beyond the classroom door. I currently serve as Chair of the 38th Legislative District Democrats and am a union leader with Lake Washington Education Association, where I help organize educators and working families around the issues that impact us most: student and staff safety, mental health supports, school funding, and inclusive, student-centered policy.
Growing up I experienced the challenges of an unstable home environment. These challenges made learning difficult, but also shaped my deep empathy for the students I serve in my classroom and greater community. It was my teachers, access to extra curricular activities, and caring adults who believed in my potential that helped make me who I am today.
At a time when our public schools are under fire, we need people who will fight to ensure the rights of all students to learn in a safe and supportive environment. As School Board Director, I will advocate for the resources our students and educators need to thrive because I know that our students are whole people, not just test scores.
